  • You can leave comments on most pages throughout the site. Please leave some feedback for the artists if you rate their work, it means a lot!
  • You can join our mailing list without joining the site --> add your email address (which will never be used for anything else - we are not a corporation and detest spamming etc...)
  • You can create an account, which will give you benefits such subscribing to content, not having to fill your name when leaving comments etc... At some point there will also be a forum
  • Watch out for scaffolding, if you see odd behaviour its probably my php mistakes whilst developing bits of the site. Overall though it should be much more stable than myspace!
Introduction

Patrick Dineen has worked extensively in the music world, writing music for film and television, writing theatre pieces and soundtracks. More recently Patrick has been writing and recording a few songs, heard for the first time through No Fixed Abyss. This growing collection titled 'Deep Cleansing Cream' comes highly recommended for all those concerned about their ageing skin...

We welcome 3 different faces of Michael Weeks to the site. Some great experimental sounds here ranging from the harder edged 'The Wretch' including the newly released album 'Northern Air,' IVILION dark anbient electro sounds, and the electronica meets shoegaze sounds of Etherine.

NFA Welcomes The Wretch, Etherine and Ivillion

The newest release added to the site is a selection of 11 songs recorded in 2006. Early feedback has suggested it will appeal to fans of Sonic Youth, Chapterhouse, Shoegaze + Jesus and Mary Chain. The album is a peronal exploration of escapism and the trauma of living, but not without a fair share of humour.

NFA welcomes the debut album 'Whirlpool' from Stumble

Newly added album 'Shining' where Astral Pedestrian experiments with Indian fused krautrock-ish instrumentals with hints of PSY and Ambient. These are mostly long tracks fused with found sound, Tablas, violin, flute, bass and plenty of guitars...

NFA adds New Album 'Shining' from Astral Pedestrian

At the heart of No Fixed Abyss is an internet based Radio Station offering streams at 48kbs and 64kbs. The aim is to promote independent unsigned and carefully selected artists, and eventually provide a channel for selling MP3's of their work. The unique quality about No Fixed Abyss is the jukebox feature, which provides 10 request slots for requesting any track in our database in realtime. The easiest way to do this is to use the Jukebox Page, where you can easily browse through the albums we have, or alternatively you can request from the artists pages. The Jukebox is the result of 2 years work, which began as a hobby to see if it was possible.

The site is still in beta, the payment system is not online yet and there are a few small bugs to work out. Having said that the Jukebox is fully functional and has been running well for a few months.

The aim of the site is not to become a corporate site, it will be grass-roots, with the emphasis being on Quality over Quantity, we want to keep things at a sensible size so that the artists don't get lost.

If you have trouble playing the radio stream from the links there is a flash player at the top of the home page which plays the 48kbs stream. You can also try right-click / copy and then paste into your media player through 'open url.'

Features still to be completed:

* Each artist will have an artist page with Links to their other sites, free MP3 downloads, some flash based songs to preview and information.

* The front page will act as a news centre with press releases from the artist and will be available as an RSS feed and the artists will be able to post their own press releases on the site.

* The payment side of things, which will initially use paypal.
Please feel free to leave comments / suggestions or send us an email.
